The Better Question About Donald Trump
Much of our current political conversations seems to revolve around a simple question: Do you support Donald Trump or not? Recently, while listening to Bill O'Reilly discuss politics, it occurred to me that he raised a more interesting question: What is the alternative? As I thought about it, I realized there may be an even better question altogether. Instead of asking whether we support Trump, perhaps we should ask whether America would be better off with a leader who could achieve similar goals without generating constant controversy. This is not an argument for or against Trump's policies. Reasonable people can disagree about immigration, trade, energy, taxes, foreign policy, and dozens of other issues. The real issue is whether our political system has become trapped in a cycle where every discussion eventually becomes about Donald Trump himself. Even those who support many of Trump's policies must acknowledge a simple reality: almost everything he does becomes a fight....
