Much of our current political conversations seems to revolve around a simple question: Do you support Donald Trump or not? Recently, while listening to Bill O'Reilly discuss politics, it occurred to me that he raised a more interesting question: What is the alternative? As I thought about it, I realized there may be an even better question altogether. Instead of asking whether we support Trump, perhaps we should ask whether America would be better off with a leader who could achieve similar goals without generating constant controversy. This is not an argument for or against Trump's policies. Reasonable people can disagree about immigration, trade, energy, taxes, foreign policy, and dozens of other issues. The real issue is whether our political system has become trapped in a cycle where every discussion eventually becomes about Donald Trump himself. Even those who support many of Trump's policies must acknowledge a simple reality: almost everything he does becomes a fight....

As a Christian, I agree with Franklin Graham on many theological and moral issues, including the authority of Scripture, the sanctity of life, evangelism, and religious liberty. However, I can no longer support him as a public Christian leader because of his unwavering support for Donald Trump.¹ The Bible commands Christians to respect government and pray for leaders, but it does not require blind loyalty. Throughout Scripture, prophets and apostles confronted rulers when they acted unjustly, dishonestly, or immorally. One of the most persistent claims in modern religious and political debates is that Adolf Hitler was an evangelical Christian. The claim is often used either to criticize Christianity or to associate historic Christian belief with the crimes of Nazi Germany. However, the historical evidence does not support that conclusion. I believe the federal government should be run according to the Constitution. That principle shouldn't change depending on who occupies the White House. For years, conservatives, libertarians, and constitutionalists argued that Washington had exceeded the powers granted to it by the Constitution.  Bill O'Reilly has been one of the most influential conservative commentators in American media for decades.¹ Supporters see him as a straight-talking defender of traditional values, while critics argue that he often blends facts, opinions, and political advocacy in ways that can mislead audiences. Regardless of where someone falls politically, it is worth examining both his record and his credibility before accepting his claims at face value.  One reason O'Reilly remains controversial is that he is primarily a commentator rather than a straight-news reporter. Commentary is designed to persuade. As a result, viewers should be careful to separate verified facts from political conclusions. Every generation of Christians faces the temptation to place its trust in earthly power rather than the power of the Gospel. The faces change, the slogans change, and the political movements change, but the temptation remains the same. Christians are constantly confronted with the question of whether the Kingdom of God is advanced through the transformation of hearts or through the acquisition of political influence. This is why I have always been cautious about elevating political activists, including Charlie Kirk, to the status of heroes of the faith. My concern has never been that he was conservative or politically active. Christians have every right to participate in public life, advocate for their convictions, and engage in the political process. My concern is that his message often seemed to reflect a broader movement that increasingly blurred the distinction between Christianity and partisan politics, making it difficult at times to determine where one ended and the other began....

George Washington's words about religion, morality, and national prosperity continue to resonate with many Americans. In his First Inaugural Address and Farewell Address, Washington argued that virtue, religion, and morality are essential supports for a healthy society. On that point, many Christians, including myself, agree. A nation that abandons honesty, justice, personal responsibility, and moral restraint will eventually pay a price. Human history provides countless examples of societies that undermined their own foundations through corruption, selfishness, and the rejection of basic moral principles. Washington understood that freedom cannot survive without virtue and that public morality matters.
