Does Donald Trump Support Russia Too Much?

 

Some people think former President Donald Trump supports Russia too much and might even be controlled by its leader, Vladimir Putin. This idea came up because Trump often said good things about Putin and didn’t always speak out when Russia did something wrong.

But when Trump was president, his government did some tough things against Russia, like punishing Russian companies and helping Ukraine by giving them weapons. Still, Trump confused people when he acted friendly with Putin in public, like at the 2018 meeting in Finland where he didn’t blame Russia for interfering in U.S. elections.

An investigation (called the Mueller Report) looked into whether Trump worked with Russia during the 2016 election. It found that Russia tried to help Trump win, but there wasn’t enough proof that Trump and his team worked directly with the Russians.

More recently, Trump tried to get peace talks going in the Ukraine war, but experts say Putin might be trying to trick Trump into quitting his support for Ukraine.

 Trump has said and done some things that seem soft on Russia, but his actions while in office were not always friendly to them. It’s hard to say for sure if he supports Russia too much, but there is no clear proof he is their puppet.
