Loyalty Tests in Federal Hiring

 Do you think Trump wants hiring based on merit only? Well, think again. 

The White House is now making people who want federal jobs write 200-word essays about how they’d support Trump’s policies. Basically, it’s like a loyalty test to see if you’re on board with the MAGA agenda. This is a big change from how hiring used to work, where they picked people based on skills and experience, not political opinions.


Lots of experts and politicians think this is a bad idea because it turns the government into more of a political club than a professional workforce. It’s also kind of scary because loyalty tests like this are something you usually see in dictatorships, not in democracies. The U.S. Supreme Court even said a long time ago that people shouldn’t be forced to swear loyalty to political leaders.


So, while the White House says this helps them get people who’ll actually support their plans, critics say it hurts the quality of government and could lead to a more partisan and less fair system.
