The Problems with Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill"
Trump and many Republicans are working hard to pass a new law called the “Big Beautiful Bill.” While supporters say it will help the economy and cut taxes, there are several problems with it that worry many people. Some of the biggest concerns include more national debt, cuts to healthcare, limits on tax credits for families, and disagreements among Republicans.
One of the main problems with the bill is that it could add a lot of money to the national debt. Even though the bill tries to save money in some areas, experts say it might still cost the country $3 to $5 trillion over the next ten years. This worries people who think the U.S. government is already spending too much.
Another issue is the plan to change Medicaid, a program that helps low-income people get healthcare. The bill would make it harder for some people to qualify by adding work requirements. The government says this could lead to about 8.6 million people losing their healthcare by 2034. That means fewer people would be able to go to the doctor or get medicine when they need it.
The bill also makes changes to the Child Tax Credit, which helps families with children. While the credit would go up from $2,000 to $2,500, fewer people would qualify for it. Some immigrant families who file taxes using a special number (called an ITIN) might not get the credit anymore. This could make life harder for many families with young kids.
Another part of the bill changes the SALT tax deduction. This is a rule that lets people take money off their taxes for what they paid in state and local taxes. The bill raises the limit on this deduction, but mostly for people who earn more money. This means the change might not help regular middle-class families very much.
There are also some controversial ideas in the bill, like getting rid of a $200 tax on gun silencers. Some people think this could make it easier for guns to be used in dangerous ways. The bill also stops Medicaid money from going to places like Planned Parenthood, which many women depend on for healthcare services. You
Finally, not all Republicans agree on what should be in the bill. Some want to cut more spending, while others worry that doing so will hurt their communities. Because Republicans only have a small majority in the House of Representatives, it might be hard to get everyone to vote for the bill.
In conclusion, while President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” tries to make big changes, it also has many problems. It could increase the national debt, take away healthcare from millions, limit help for families, and create disagreements even within the Republican Party. Lawmakers will need to think carefully about these issues before they decide if the bill should become law.
