So, Is Trump About to Be Impeached Again?

Okay, let’s talk about the elephant in the room—yep, that elephant. Is Donald Trump about to be impeached again? You’ve probably heard people throwing the idea around, and honestly, it’s not just wild Twitter talk or political gossip. There have actually been real articles of impeachment filed against him in Congress. But before you get too excited (or worried, depending on your politics), let’s break down where things actually stand.

Yes, Some Lawmakers Are Trying

First off, yep—it’s true. Two different members of Congress have filed impeachment resolutions this year.

In April 2025, Congressman Shri Thanedar (D–Michigan) introduced a detailed resolution with seven articles of impeachment against Trump. He accuses Trump of all kinds of stuff: abusing his power, undermining democracy, even things like obstructing justice and misusing tariffs to punish enemies.

Then in May, Congressman Al Green (D–Texas) also filed his own articles of impeachment. His resolution argues that Trump defied court orders, encouraged insurrection, and has been acting like a man above the law.

So yeah—these are real filings, not just internet rage.

But Nothing’s Moving… Yet

Here’s the thing: those articles are just sitting in the House Judiciary Committee. That’s like the political version of being put “on hold.” There haven’t been hearings, no debates, no votes—crickets. In fact, three of the original cosponsors actually backed out. That doesn’t mean impeachment’s dead, but it definitely means it’s not a top priority for Democratic leadership right now.

Congressman Pete Aguilar (the House Democratic Caucus Chair) even said point blank that impeachment isn’t something they're focused on at the moment. They’ve got their eyes on other battles.

But Public Support Is Growing

Now here’s where it gets interesting: a poll from April 2025 showed that 52% of Americans actually support impeaching Trump again. That includes 84% of Democrats, 55% of Independents, and even a tiny slice of Republicans. Even Elon Musk, of all people, said he’d be down to see Trump impeached—and that made headlines.

With Trump stirring up controversy left and right—whether it's sending troops into liberal cities, defying court orders, or cozying up to authoritarian-leaning tech billionaires—people are watching. Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, head of the Congressional Black Caucus, even said Trump's recent actions in Los Angeles could qualify as impeachable.

So What’s the Hold-Up?

Politics, plain and simple. The Democrats don’t currently control the House, so they can’t force an impeachment vote even if they wanted to. But if the 2026 midterms flip the House back to Democratic control? Then impeachment becomes way more likely. Axios even reported that Trump’s own team is preparing for that possibility. They’re war-gaming how to respond if impeachment actually happens.

So, Is It Going to Happen?

Short answer: not right now. Long answer: maybe, especially if things keep escalating or the Democrats retake the House. Trump is definitely skating on thin ice with a lot of people in Congress and across the country. But for now, the impeachment train is sitting at the station, engine running, but no one’s driving it just yet.
