Where There's Smoke, There's Fire: The Epstein Files

The Jeffrey Epstein scandal isn’t just about politics—it’s about the kind of people we’re trusting to lead us. The folks who could reveal the full truth about Epstein and the powerful people connected to him are showing us a lot about their real character. And honestly, it doesn’t look good for our country’s future.

Take Pam Bondi, the former Florida Attorney General. Back in 2019, she said, “That list was on my desk.” But then in 2023, she said she only had files related to Epstein, not the actual list. That kind of back-and-forth makes you wonder if she’s being honest. The Bible warns in Proverbs 28:13, “People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.” Trying to hide the truth never ends well.

Then there’s President Donald Trump. When he was running for office in early 2016, he promised to release the Epstein files. But once he got into office, he never did. After Epstein was arrested, Trump said in 2019 he hadn’t spoken to Epstein in years and wasn’t a fan. But years before that, he had called Epstein a “terrific guy.” These mixed messages make it hard to trust him. If he really had nothing to hide, why keep things secret?

The Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, has also been blocking efforts to release those files. In mid-2024, he refused to even let Congress vote on a bill that would make those documents public. The Vice President, JD Vance, called these efforts “political witch hunts” meant to hurt Trump. That kind of attitude shows they’d rather protect politics than justice.

Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, keeps brushing off questions about Epstein as political attacks. In late 2024, she said the administration won’t get distracted by “baseless accusations.” When people who should answer questions instead try to shut them down, it doesn’t build trust.

Many media figures have also changed their tune. Charlie Kirk, who once said in 2019 that we need to find out who protected Epstein, later told people to “move on” from the scandal. Laura Loomer went from demanding investigations to calling the questions “left-wing smear campaigns.” Tucker Carlson focuses on other topics and downplays Epstein. Steve Bannon talked about cover-ups but hasn’t followed through with clear details. When trusted voices flip-flop or go silent, it only confuses people more.

On the other hand, some like Ro Khanna have stayed consistent. In 2024, he said publicly that Americans deserve the full truth about Epstein, no matter the political cost. Megyn Kelly has asked tough questions but hasn’t really pushed Trump allies on this. Dan Bongino calls Epstein questions distractions, while Elon Musk mostly stays silent. Alan Dershowitz, once connected to Epstein, denies everything and fights to keep documents secret. It’s a messy situation.

This mix of silence, denial, and protecting political allies shows a serious problem. Too many care more about loyalty and power than about justice. The Bible says in Galatians 6:7, “Don’t be fooled— you cannot mock God. You will always harvest what you plant.” If our leaders don’t act right, the whole country suffers.

For Christians, this is more than just politics—it’s a spiritual issue. The Bible tells us to love justice and live honestly. Proverbs 21:3 says, “The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices.” We’re called to stand up for the vulnerable and bring truth into the light. Luke 8:17 reminds us, “For everything that is secret will eventually be made public, and everything that is hidden will be brought to light and become known.”

But we also have to be careful not to put too much trust in human leaders. Psalm 146:3 says, “Don’t put your trust in princes or in people who have no power to save.” No matter how great a politician seems, only God is truly in charge.

This is why Christian nationalism is dangerous. Trying to make America a Christian nation by mixing politics and faith the wrong way can confuse what Jesus taught. Jesus said in John 18:36, “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom.” Our job isn’t to control governments but to live by God’s love and truth.

We should focus on the Bible and what God wants, not just on political leaders or parties. As 1 Thessalonians 5:21 says, “Test everything. Hold on to the good.” That means we need to pray for wisdom, speak truth kindly but clearly, and trust that God’s justice will win in the end.

In practical terms, that means praying for victims, asking God to guide leaders to do what’s right, standing up for justice, and not losing hope—even when things look bad. We also need to keep Christ first and not get caught up in politics more than faith.

At the end of the day, no politician or party is perfect. Our hope is in Jesus, who is the real judge and redeemer. We are called to be light in a dark world, always pushing for truth and fairness but trusting God above all.

The Epstein scandal is a test of who we are and what we stand for. We can’t let political loyalties blind us or let powerful people hide the truth. We need to stand up for what God says is right—because if we don’t, the smoke hiding the fire will keep growing, and the soul of our nation will be in danger.
