Trump Finally Gets Something Right — But What’s His Real Game?

For once, Donald Trump seems to have done something right. The newly brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas — a moment that few thought possible — bears his fingerprints in all the right ways. Through direct negotiation, diplomatic pressure, and what he calls his 20-point peace plan, Trump has managed to pull together a fragile but meaningful pause in one of the world’s most enduring conflicts. Hostages are coming home, aid is moving into Gaza, and at least for now, the guns have fallen silent.¹

That deserves credit. No matter what one thinks of Trump’s style or motives, achieving even a temporary peace in this region is no small feat. It required convincing two bitter enemies to trust his assurances — and that’s something few U.S. leaders have managed to do.²

But let’s be honest — Trump’s history doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in his selfless dedication to global harmony. Every move he makes carries the unmistakable scent of calculation. The question isn’t whether he wants peace — it’s what kind of peace he wants, and what he expects to gain from it.³

Is this ceasefire part of a genuine effort to stabilize the region, or is it just another chapter in the long-running story of Trump’s transactional politics? The man who thrives on deals and optics rarely gives anything away without expecting something bigger in return — power, prestige, or leverage.⁴

So yes, Trump finally got something right. But given his record, one can’t help but wonder if there’s a deeper play unfolding behind the scenes — one that has less to do with peace and more to do with positioning himself at the center of the world stage once again.⁵
